Abstract:

The disclosure of inactive ingredients of drugs to alert consumers who may be at risk of serious reactions is discussed. The voluntary listing of inactive ingredients on product package labels by manufacturers of both OTC and prescription drugs is also discussed. Inactive ingredients which can cause side effects in susceptible people include ethyl alcohol, coloring agents, lactose, sulfites and sweetening agents.
