Kushner D.
Don't advertise Rx drugs to public, mfrs are urged
American Druggist 1986 Mar; 193:126, 128, 130, 132

Abstract:

Views of a group of pharmacy leaders on direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs are presented. It was felt that direct-to-consumer advertising would create unrealistic expectations among consumers about the benefits of the advertised drugs because of the emotional response created by advertising resulting in increased pressure on physicians to prescribe against their limited knowledge; it will also lead to increased abuse and misuse of drugs and raise prescription prices and increase overhead costs.
