Abstract:
Predictions on the impact of health maintenance organizations’ cost containment policies relating to reimbursement by capitation, physician prescribing control and the use of generic drugs on the future of fee-for-service health plans coverage and pharmaceutical industry marketing are discussed. It is noted that in the yr 2000, fee-for-service health care will remain a formidable force in the medical marketplace since most people still want a wide choice for medical care.
