Three drug manufacturers adopt JCPP stance on expiration dating
American Journal of Hospital Pharmacy 1988 Nov; 45:2272, 2274, 2276
Abstract:
It is reported that 3 out of 54 pharmaceutical manufacturers contacted by the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP) have instituted the recommended semiannual expiration dating policy, establishing January/July expiration dating for all prescription drugs with a shelf-life of at least 36 months; it is believed that the semiannual expiration dating helps pharmacists control inventory levels and check for expired products.
