Abstract:

The removal of discounts by the pharmaceutical industry for health care institutions after the passage of the recent Medicaid prudent purchasing law is discussed. The positions of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and Senator David Pryor concerning the raising of the best prices by industry are described, as well as the proposed legislation for the triplicate prescription requirement for controlled substances.
