Daylight on prescription prices
Money 1972 Oct; 1:31-34
Abstract:
The marketing of drugs is discussed from the viewpoint of the patient, the pharmacist and the pharmaceutical industry. Suggestions are made to help patients avoid paying unreasonably high prices for drugs. Fifty drugs, which account for more than 33% of all prescriptions filled are listed along with their average price and the retail markup. On the average, pharmacists mark up the drugs shown by $2.64 per prescription.
