Medicine Shoppe: forging a chain out of 180 little apothecaries
American Druggist 1977 May; 175:56-60
Abstract:
A franchised community pharmacy operation (Medicine Shoppe International) consisting of 180 stores which average $175,000 in annual sales is described. The stores average only 800 square feet, have little advertising and stock only medicines and prescription accessories. Screening programs are offered to the public: hypertension, diabetes, hearing and vision (for pre-schoolers). Marketing techniques include referral bonuses, price guarantees and patient registration cards.
