Abstract:

Projections for the drug sales market by the pharmaceutical industry in 1980 are presented, based upon the Department of Commerce’s U.S. Industrial Outlook 1980. Domestic and worldwide drug product shipments by American manufacturers should increase 12% to $17.9 billion with prescription drugs increasing 15% from 1979 to $10 billion. Shipments of antigens and vaccines should increase 8% from 1979 to $125 million. Over-the-counter drug shipments should increase 11% from 1979 to $3.5 billion.
