Prescribing is a social process
1980 Nov; 1:VIII-X
Abstract:
The influence of social factors, rather than morbidity factors, in prescribing drugs, and the role of the pharmacist in correcting such influences, were discussed. The individual physician characteristics, the practice setting and the pharmaceutical industry were considered as the important influences on prescribing. In conclusion, it was suggested that the pharmacist should strengthen the relationship between patient morbidity and drug choice, and thus decrease the influence of social factors.
