Drug Merchandising 1982 Apr; 63:18-19
Abstract:
Based on the prediction of the real growth rate of the worldwide pharmaceutical industry, the Canadian drug market was determined to be 4 billion inflated dollars by 1990; and the ranking of the top 10 classes of prescription drugs was also projected. Cardiovascular therapy is considered to dominate the pharmaceutical market into the next decade, followed by psychotherapeutics, anti-infectives, cough and cold preparations, antiarthritics, hormones, oral contraceptives, dermatologicals, pain killers and vitamins, in the order provided. These top 10 classes of drugs are believed to account for better than 50% of the total revenues generated in the pharmaceutical market.
