Generic Rxs rise by 5.9% as branded Rxs increase by only 1.6%

Abstract:

Data from the 1980 National Prescription Audit conducted by IMS America Ltd. cite the top 200 drugs and manufacturers by rank, comparison with ranking the previous yr and percentage of generic products. The number of new generic prescriptions increased by 6.8% while total number rose by 5.9%. A continued decline was reflected in the ratio of refills to total prescriptions.
