Parallel imports
Pharmaceutical Journal 1984 Mar 10; 232:275-276

Abstract:

Issues relating to the unduly restrictive price control systems in some EEC countries which create artificial price differentials between parallel imports and drugs produced by British manufacturers, and their effects on the pharmaceutical industry and the health care system in Great Britain are presented. The effects of increased parallel importation on the wholesale drug trade and the economics of the pharmaceutical industry in Great Britain are discussed as well as the possible hazards to health arising from the dispensing of drugs without English directions to patients and lacking in quality assurance with regard to storage and handling.
