Abstract:

The positive and negative aspects of the relations between the hospital pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry were discussed. The conflicting views between hospital pharmacy and industry with regard to drug advertising, the methods of influencing physicians prescribing and the variable drug price policies, were included in the discussion. The potential for collaboration in continuing education was stressed. It was concluded that careful analysis of their respective areas in hospital pharmacy and industry can lead to a better understanding of each others problems, with advantages for both partners.
