Rx-to-consumer advertising debate starts up again

Abstract:
The controversy regarding direct-to-consumer prescription advertising by different pharmaceutical manufacturers is discussed. It was stated that direct consumer advertising for prescription drugs would increase costs and lead to inappropriate patient demand for medication. However, it was shown that prescribing practices might actually improve if the patient were exposed to prescription advertising.
