Abstract:
Various changes in the Medicare program and a new children’s health initiative, both of which were in the U.S. budget reconciliation bill signed into law in August, 1997, as well as a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposal regarding the provision of more accurate information about pediatric dosing in pharmaceutical product labeling and an FDA policy change regarding direct to consumer broadcast advertising of prescription drugs, are discussed.
