Abstract:

The adoption of step therapy, incentives, preferred drugs and other formulary systems, and tiered pricing by managed care health plans to tackle the problems of rising drug costs while also paying attention to efficacy and safety is discussed, including the effects of physician influences and direct to consumer advertising.
