The benefits of the Prescription Drug Fee Act, especially in reducing New Drug Application review time and the need for an independent review in light of approved drug product withdrawals because of unexpected, severe adverse events, are presented; other U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) funding and balancing benefits and costs are addressed.
