Forging closer links with patients

Abstract:

A recent meeting was held that was jointly sponsored by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry and the Long-Term Medical Conditions Alliance, which represents 65 patient advocacy groups in the United Kingdom. More than 30 patient groups were directly represented in the audience. Patient representatives called for a closer working partnership with pharmaceutical companies. The time may be coming when the ban against direct-to-consumer advertising will be seen as obsolete and irrelevant.
