Rapp MS.
A sample argument.
CMAJ 1990 Sep 15; 143:(6):467-8

Abstract:

The author likes to receive drug samples because they make him feel that he is someone special. Critics of drug sampling are subliminally aware that these things make doctors feel good and therefore attack the practices. Samples also are useful when seeing if patients can tolerate a new drug and can save patients money.
