The international industry discusses marketing standards
Health Horizons 1988 May; (4):18-19

Abstract:

According to the IFPMA president, the most important feature of the industry code is its existence. There are few complaints about code violations that could be considered as constituting a serious threat to patients. The code applies to companies where ever they operate. The most important sanction is adverse publicity since companies value their reputations. Operation of the code costs governments, taxpayers and health professionals nothing. The code cannot supercede the sovereign right of countries to make decisions about which products should be marketed and how they should be marketed. The article also reviews the seventh status report on the operation of the code.
