Smith R.
Doctors and the drug industry: too close for comfort.
Br Med J (Clin Res Ed) 1986 Oct 11; 293:(6552):905-6

Abstract:

The British industry spends about £2500 per doctor on promotion, over 80% on general practitioners or about £5000 per GP. The report on the relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and doctors by the Royal College of Physicians should be seen as the beginning rather than the end of a debate on how doctors relate to drug companies.
