The pharmaceutical industry
Canadian Family Physician 1986; 32:2013

Abstract:

Pharmacists and physicians were surveyed concerning six parameters related to the drug promotion. Pharmacists did not rate the industry as high as physicians. Sales representatives did not rate as highly as other promotional activities as credible sources of information but most doctors disapproved of in-office discussions with these people. The most frequently disapproved industry promotional practices were providing hospitality suites at medical meetings, free lunches with detailers and mailings.
