Preventing promotion
Journal of the Royal College of General Practitioners 1984; 37:473
Abstract:
Recently there has been a decline in the amount of advertising in British medical journals because of government restricting promotional budgets. The relationship between advertising and editorial material is a subtle one. Journals totally dependent on advertising have to reach high readership figures in order to sell space to advertisers. The reduction in promotional budgets forced on the industry by government may be an opportunity to develop a style of promotion that is less fanatical and flamboyant.
