Bass MJ.
Chairman’s chair: research or marketing?
Family Medicine Research Update 1984; 3:(2):6-7

Abstract:

The College of Family Physicians of Canada received a large number of complaints about its involvement in a survey done by a marketing firm. Recipients were requested to estimate their monthly number of prescriptions of a long list of drugs identified only by trade name. Accompanying the questionnaire was a one hour study credit coupon and a letter from the executive director of the College and the president of the marketing firm. As a result of this incident, a number of changes have been made to the process by which the College approves research activities.
