Is criticism of tranquilizer advertising justified?
Medical Marketing & Media 1983; 18:(7):50, 52, 54-55, 58-59
Abstract:
The nature of appeals in journal advertisements for minor tranquilizers has changed significantly from 1968 to 1981. Most of the anxiety associated with disease appeals used in the early 1970s have decreased. Generalized anxiety appeals seem to be consistent throughout the years studied. The use of minor tranquilizers for problems of living is no longer a significant promotional theme.
