Drug promotion and the doctor--a reply.
Br J Clin Pharmacol 1982 Nov; 14:(5):664-6
Abstract:
There is a broad gradation between promotion and information and it is a matter of individual taste to draw a line between acceptable and unacceptable activities. There is no other field of innovation where the enthusiastic discoverer is so constrained in methods, content and amount in telling potential users about the advantages of its product. So-called “objective†information is rarely free from bias of some kind and degree whatever its source. Doctors should be well placed to meet the challenges of indirect promotion.
