Drug companies and medical education: a modest proposal
McGill Medical Journal 1981; 46:(2):24
Abstract:
Medical students and doctors received many small gifts from drug companies and are exposed to other forms of promotion. The author proposes that instead of giving things away to the medical profession that drug companies sell them at cost. This would mean that the cost of these items would be passed on the doctors rather than to consumers. In addition if they had to pay for items doctors would be more likely to consider if they really needed them.
