Top 200 drugs of 1987: new prescription volume increases 4.2% moving total Rxs up 1.4%
Pharmacy Times 1988 Apr; 54:38-46

Abstract:

Statistics from the National Prescription Audit comparing prescription volume in 1987 with 1986 are presented. The comparison shows that as a percentage of all new prescriptions, new generic prescriptions account for 13.6% in 1987 compared with 13.5% in 1986. Statistics for the top 200 drugs (brands and generics) for the entire calendar yr of 1987 are presented. A list consisting only of new prescriptions dispensed by community pharmacists and a tabulation reflecting the number of drug products for each company listed in descending order are also included.
