Abstract:

The basic safety and efficacy standard of the FDA is reviewed, and several areas of endeavor are described, namely fixed combination drugs products, over-the-counter drugs, drug advertising, and generic prescribing. It is stated that the requirement for adequate and well controlled trials is essential.
