Politics and drug regulation
Medical Marketing and Media 1977 Apr; 12:17-18, 20, 22, 24-26, 28-31
Abstract:
Since the Kefauver-Harris Amendments of 1962, politics has become a significant factor in the regulation of prescription drugs. Numerous incidences of political intervention into the arguments surrounding regulation of the drug industry are examined. It is suggested that we need a system constructed on incentives which reward regulators and the regulated alike for good conduct and performance where public accountability is the key.
