Abstract:

A course in pharmacy ethics offered to first yr students at the Univ. of Georgia School of Pharmacy is discussed. The basic themes of the course include: drug substitution, advertising prescription drug prices, prescription price determination, pharmaceutical marketing and promotion, pharmacy unionization, and pharmacy ownership legislation. Codes of ethics and human value statements are also discussed. The course objectives are listed and a composite reading list is given.
