TV advertising and abuse of over-the-counter drugs
Journal of Drug Issues 1976; 6:(1):79-84

Abstract:

In response to criticism of over-the-counter drug advertising, the National Association of Broadcasters applied voluntary guidelines for television drug commercials. The New York Scientists’ Committee for Public Information then conducted an evaluation of the ads shown before and after September 1973 when the guidelines went into effect. This paper presents a summary of their findings as well as recommendations for revision and improvement of the self-regulatory measures.
