Pharma Phacts was set up in March 2009 by a group of medical students from 19 Australian universities. The official launch was at the Global Health Conference ’09 in July.

The aim of the campaign is to provide medical students with evidence and resources on the effects of pharmaceutical advertising on medical students and doctors.

“There is no sin in being wrong. The sin is in our unwillingness to examine our own beliefs, and in believing that our authorities cannot be wrong. Far from creating cynics, such a story is likely to foster a healthy and creative skepticism, which is something quite different from cynicism.”
- Neil Postman in “The End of Education”
